Add margin and serve new customers without capital investment
No films or foils to buy
No special equipment is needed
Flat price per tiff set, for packaging designs
No new materials — more recyclable
Fathom offers converters and printing houses an entirely new approach to embellishments and security features that requires no new equipment, special processes or additional materials. Our system integrates into standard prepress processes and our effects print on standard substrates using your current equipment and standard inks.
We currently work with flexographic printers for such labeling needs as shrink sleeves, pressure sensitive labels, clear cartons and credit cards. Fathom’s effects can work with many processes and applications, so if you want to do something different, contact us.
Help your customers to grow their business with the new, environmentally friendly, motion and depth effects made possible by Fathom.
How it works
Short version: Two layers of a custom pixel pattern are either printed on two sides of a substrate, or printed on two layers of a laminate. With separation between the pixel layers, Fathom can generate an amazing effect. The thicker the substrate, the more dramatic the effect.
Long version: Fathom effects work through imprinting a dynamic graphic composed of digital light fields that replaces ‘optically-varying’ printed features. To produce this image, the Fathom technology encodes the 3-dimensional volume of an object on a 2-dimensional surface (ie, imprints a hologram) in a revolutionary manner. The Fathom system employs a complex computational approach that eliminates the need for 3D glasses (or similar devices), and computationally processes hundreds of billions of light rays to create a very large 3D virtual image that can be affixed on an extremely thin physical display.

Construction Examples
There are lots of ways to build a label with Fathom embellishments. Below are a few examples to get you started that meet different goals with narrow web flexographic presses. Mix and match, and adapt to your needs. As long as it’s possible to achieve two layers of print with something clear of sufficient thickness in between you can get good results.
